Crying
He had to go. This wasn’t healthy for either of them. He wasn’t the man she needed, and much as he loved her, she wasn’t the girl his soul cried out for either.
Crying. That had been the moment. She had taken away every fibre of his manhood by not crying. Standing at the sink, blithely declaring that she did cry, just not in front him.
It was then that the crumbling had started. The escape had to come. He realised, deep down inside, that there would be no quarter. To be a man, he must go.
But not yet.
