It was glorious. She was Miss America, the real thing, accept no substitutions. She had the sash, the clothes, the prestige, and most importantly, the memories. She could remember the look on Miss Rhode Island’s face when she was called as runner up. She could remember the warm tears of joy as the tiara was placed on her head. She could remember the past months - charity events, ribbon-cuttings, meetings with important people, and commercial shoots. Everything was crystal-clear, and her dreams had come true.

But now as she trudged home, her tiara was plastic again, and she was just Harmony.
