“We’ll have you safe in Sunnydale in no time,” Giles told the Potential as they took off from Shanghai. Chao-Ahn didn’t understand a word, but she smiled gamely. Giles sighed. He was so tired. He’d made too many trips since this all began, hit too many dead ends and seen too many dead girls. Chao-Ahn asked him something in concerned sounding Cantonese. “It’s all right,” he reassured with a smile. And it was. He’d gotten there in time, saved this girl. There would be no need to banish the memory of her corpse with the in-flight bar. Not this time.
