Wow. There's real beauty in your use of visual detail in this story. And that ending, it literally made me shiver.

Thanks! I was trying to walk the line between fire being both a beautiful and a terrible thing. I'm so glad you liked it!

Oh, I love this! Chilling and heartbreaking...I love it because I lived this transformation with him. You show him carefree, and then you take him through these defining moments, where he learns consequences and devastation.

Beautifully done!

Thanks! It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the story and the progression Mal goes through in his dream/nightmares!

This is gorgeously written. I love seeing a moment of transformation for him without seeing the actual transformation, just sliding back into a time where it's already taken place.

Thanks! It's wonderful to hear you like it! I was haunted by the fact that we don't know exactly what happened to Shadow or when Mal heard about Shadow, so I wanted to explore it by exploring him.

I remember loving this when you posted it in GF. You have such a lovely way with words.

Thanks! I tinkered with it a tiny bit, but the basic idea is the same. It's great to hear you like it!
