Can't Understand

“I think it was brigh’ white. Not like those poncey cartoon ones.” Spike leaned back against the headstone with a wistful gesture in his eyes. “All shinin’ and bright.”

“It was orange. And yellow. And white, yeah that too.” Angel looked at the other vampire. “It was setting last time I saw it.”

Spike sighed contentedly. “Ah, sunsets. I liked those.”

“It was nice when it rose too. Warmed you up like nothing else.” He looked at Spike. “Nice to be warm and not burned.”

He nodded, a small smile coming onto his face. “Nothin’ like it. Everything that comes close only burns.”

They both nodded, reminiscing together quietly for another second.

Wesley broke their silence, walking over to the two vampires. “What are you two talking about? Were meant to be looking out for the Cracken demon.”

Spike jumped to his feet, dusting off his long leather coat. “Don’t worry mate, were lookin’ for the slime ball. Just got distracted.” He headed off into the graveyard.

Wesley looked at Angel. “What was that about?”

Angel just followed Spike further into the dark. “Not something you’d understand Wes.”
