That was the kindest noun he could think of for that filthy demon bar, with sad, trussed up Kurhaut demons performing a sad, unsexy Cabaret up on the sad, worn-down stage.
And he looked at the striking brunette, still as pretty and fresh-faced as the carefree, somewhat-shallow cheerleader he met at the Bronze four years ago. No expression of Ew, what am I doing here? No boredom. Just absolute determination to find the demon that, in less than twenty-four hours, was supposed to annihilate a middle school dance. Fire in her eyes to stop it.
Angel shook his head. She was proud of herself, and she was happy. And still, he would have sent himself back to any of a dozen hell dimensions if it meant that this life would never touch her.
