Actually, Pug's been hanging around Mal, but he's right about Sadie.

She pauses now when she smells him there, but then walks over over to a crate in the corner and lifts the lid on a crate so she can stir some left overs and bits into the dirt it contains.

Movement catches his eye and he watches Sadie for a while, shutting down the images on his screen. He doesn't move, though. Just watches.

Sadie finishes and restores the lid, then walks over to another crate and reaches inside to pull out a plump marsh cavie.

"You squeamish 'bout critters buyin' it?" She looks toward Derek.

He blinks. "I shoot people for a living, Sadie. Don't think a critter would phase me much. 'Less it was a puppy or something."

"Hear dog don't taste that bad." She turns away, slaughtering and dressing the oversized guinea pig with swift efficiency. "Wish I had another'a these so ever'body could have some. Gonna save thissun fer the Cap."

Derek smiles, glossing over the dog thing. "I suppose he needs it more than the rest of us."

"Might convince 'im t' eat." She twitches her antennae and grumbles under her breath, then glances over her shoulder at Derek and offers an apologetic grin. "Sorry, bub."
