A desperate request for help

Hi, folks,

Ok, so this is a desperate and shameless cry for help.

A friend of mine, Nela, from Montenegro (she was one of our interpreters, and has worked for the OSCE, among other organizations, many times in the area; very sweet, very smart, and we've kept in touch closely since 2006, when I monitored their Referendum there in Nikšić), has a 13- ( Read more... )

I only know of American Organizations, like St. Jude Children's Hospital. I don't know what they do on an international level. What I would suggest her family does, is find a doctor in the area that can help him, and appeal to this doctor's human side. See if they'd help at a lesser rate. A lot of American institutions will operate on people/children when the disease is rare enough that it will generate their institution some press, and they do these operations for free/very little money. They may even try appealing to American doctors at big children's hospitals in the states like CHOP or HOP.
