Something Blue

OK, so it pretty much only took me 3 days from the date of engagement to determine that our wedding color is going to be Tiffany blue.  Kara, my dutiful MoH, wasted no time in looking up eleventy billion ideas for weddings in that color and, within 3 minutes, had emailed me a bunch of URLs.  One of the first things she found, and I loved, was an appropriately-themed wedding cake.

Last night, Jason asks me, "What kind of wedding cake did you want?"  I said it was going to match our colors.  "Was it 3 stacked boxes at an angle?" he asked.

Me: "Yes............ Where is this going?"
Him:
Me: "Jason......?"
Him: "Dave said Paige is having that cake."

(His friend Dave, and his new fiance (less than a month before us?) Paige, about whom I wrote last month, set their wedding date as New Year's Eve.  In Destin.  Which I learned after I'd already determined everything but the ... well, no, I think I've actually already picked out everything.  Suffice it to say, I'd already picked out Rutherford's 465, a restaurant in Destin, as our reception site.  Most likely.  As well as the color, which was the first thing I decided on, followed about 30 seconds later by the bridesmaids' dresses, shoes and accessories.)

I made him ask Dave this morning what the exact color was for their wedding.  Dave only thought to mention the cake to Jason yesterday, as he'd seen the fabric swatch from the bridesmaids' dress designer sitting on our kitchen counter when the guys came home for lunch one day last week, and Jason told him we were doing Tiffany blue.

So, let's recap:
Their wedding, which is first (and thusly gets preference on everything), will be held in the same city (Jason doesn't know what restaurant.  I don't think Dave knows, either), in our wedding colors (Dave says, "some sorta green," which I'm willing to bet is guy-speak for what any girl in America can tell you is Tiffany Blue), and our precise wedding cake (I've found a somewhat different design, but Jason says it's too bland-looking.  Well, excuse me.  The one I'd PLANNED ON is already taken, and I can't very well have it now, too, can I?  I'll look like I'm copying their wedding).  Which also leads me to believe their invites and decorations won't be far off the mark from mine (who has a Tiffany wedding and doesn't use blue invites with a white ribbon?  Tell me.  I'm dying to know).

So now I'm going to have to change my colors from Tiffany Blue to Circus Rainbow, and make my bridesmaids wear enormous floppy shoes and red noses, and my cake is going to have to be in the shape of 3 elephants doing the conga.

Shit.

Am I overreacting?  What is a blue bride to do?
