a cold night for a lifetime

so today was almost without a doubt the worst day of my life. i can only think of one or two that come close.  we will set the beginning of the day to 10 PM the night before, when linda told me she doesn't return my feelings for her. with that as the starting point, here is how the rest of the day played out

-i slept through a class i am currently struggling in
-on my way to my next class, the back tire of my bike blew out before i even got to campus (and my class was on the opposite end of campus)
-i bought a tube to repair my bike, only to have that one explode almost immediately after putting it on.  we (alec and i) discovered i also needed a new tire (and now another new tube). on our way back to the bike shop, a construction vehicle struck a gas pipeline right outside the shop, making the whole place smell terrible, and eventually causing the police to quarantine the area (fortunately after we left w/ new tube and tire)
-after replacing tube and tire, we realized my back wheel was now out of alignment, so we took it to a different bike shop to have that fixed (my bike is still there as we speak)
- on my way to bed bath and beyond to return something i had bought for linda, i dropped said object, and broke it, so i could not return it.
- after doing some grocery shopping, nick, karin, and i headed out for some dinner before fhe (family home evening), only to have my car die in the middle of traffic, and refuse to start. we pushed it about a quarter of a mile back to my apartment, where i called a tow truck and waited, now uncertain as to how i was going to pick up ash at the airport.
-after calling a bunch of people, i finally got ahold of alec, and he agreed to let me borrow his car. the tow truck arrived and took my car. i told the driver i would meet him at the mechanic's after i fetched my friend's car. so i walked to san raf and got his keys, only to discover that his car won't start. so i called ash to tell her she was going to have to take the bus.
- i call AAA to ask if the tow truck driver can just drop my car off at the mechanic's w/o me being there, and am told that he cannot. someone has to be there to sign off on it. if no one is there after a certain amount of time, he takes the car back to his yard, and i have to pay to retrieve it
-i call more people and finally get ahold of mike, who drives me to the mechanic, where we thankfully find my car sitting in the parking lot. i lock it up, and head back to my apartment. (turns out the owner of the shop was still there, and signed off on it. about the only good thing that happened all day)
-linda, karin and katie come pick me up to go play volleyball. not only am i not exactly happy to see linda, but it was some of the worst volleyball i have ever witnessed. i was looking forward to pounding the crap out of the ball, only to be involved in some of the most lackluster games i have ever participated in. then people started goofing off, which i can only tolerate so long in a game of volleyball. i grew disgusted and quit, and linda drove me home

if i wasn't so unbelievably unhappy at the moment, i would almost laugh at the events of today. i mean seriously, does it get more comical? i think not. fuck. me.
