Nice new album from the Drive By Truckers. I have not had a chance to listen to all of yet but so far it sounds like the usual mixture of Southern Rock with Patterson Hoods, awkwardly elegant lyrics.
A glance at some of the song titles implies that Hood has been reading true crime magazines or watching some very poor movies. How else can you explain songs called "Drag the Lake Charlie" or "The wig he made her wear", which appears to be about a woman who has murdered her husband to escape his bizarre demands on her.
Also worth looking out for a new (recorded in 1978) live album by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes. Mates of Springsteen, they were the american version of Graham parker and the Rumour, but only came to life on live albums. This one has a great version of Bruce Springsprong's Fever as the highlight of the set.
Of course you could always follow the lead of
morienos and listen to some Finnish Bob Dylan covers album with pictures of Herring (the fish, not portly british comedian Richard) on the cover.
