about a week ago I first read the headline 'Deepthroat Revealed' on
CNN.com I, perhaps stupidly, assumed it was about
Inside Deepthroat a documentary on the 1970s porn phenomenon. I had first heard about this documentary months ago on a television show or some other news outlet for such things, and had wanted to see it, especially after seeing the net-artwork
Deep ASCII. To make a long story short, I read the article and found out that they were in fact talking about the Watergate informant, not the movie. However, that same day I decided to see if the documentary was playing at some point in Gainesville. It is, starting today at the Hippodrome. I plan on seeing this movie either over the weekend or early next week, if anyone wants to go see it with me.
Also, the
New York Times Op/Ed section has restored my faith in contemporary journalism for the better part of 2 hours, most notably
Nicholas Kristof.
I recently saw the movie
Shattered Glass which was surprisingly good, and showed that Hayden Christenson can act remarkably well with the right direction. The framing device used to tie much of the movie together, as well as build the main character's credibility as a story-teller, then completely crush it, was a little lame but it worked really well. All in all its a movie people should check out if they have the time.
I might be going to Jacksonville this weekend so I can buy a copy of
The Cranes are Flying for only $20, which is a sweet deal. Hopefully no one has snatched it since I last went to MovieStop.
