Last night to chill out after a stressful afternoon and evening - and to try seeing if the self-treatment works for my sleeping troubles as well - I did fun relaxing things.
I finished cleaning my room (it sorely needed it), organized everything, got rid of the junk. I lit a delicious Pure Light Frankincense and Myrrh candle and heated some dreamy essential oil in an oil burner. One lamp was lit and the deep glow of my dark room (it's painted dark green, with browns, reds, and purples decorating it), and I shut the door behind me so my room would be all wonderfully smelly after my shower.
I did everything I could to take a relaxing shower. I shampooed with Victoria's Secret Amber Romance shampoo and conditioner (I love how sensual and mellow it is). For body wash, I used my Kiss My Face Anti-Stress shower gel, and I also dropped a few drops of lavender essential oil on the sponge. The mix of the smells was terrific! Definitely chilled out. When I got back to my yummy room, I combed out my hair, put on Kiss My Face Lavender Ultra-Moisturizer, and spritzed a mix of water and lavender essential oils in my combed mane. Sure, it sounds like lavender overload, but it really wasn't as the smells fade decently...and lavender is a huge relaxant in aromatherapy so I wanted to make sure I would chill out!
I put on my nightie and turned on some Relaxing Thunderstorm CD. Ali came in my room and taught me some yoga that she learned from classes in college, so we did night time yoga on my bedroom floor by candlelight with a thunderstorm! :) It was a really fun 45 minutes. Very relaxing.
When I went to bed I was sure to breathe solely through my nose to relax. I had one or two troubles with getting good breaths (which is sad, because it was while I was on my stomach, and I'm a stomach sleeper for sure)...but all in all it worked really well. I didn't wake up once during the night gasping for air! I'm thinking that I don't have sleep apnea, but just a case of constant hyperventilation or anxiety.
I don't mind doing relaxing things every night all night to prepare for bed. It's such a journey of learning about myself!
