because then there are people who are in my parents situation, who 15 years ago bought this house and could afford it, then my dad got hurt two years later and is now disabled and recieves social security, who them turn around and tell my dad they overpaid him, [how we still cant figure out because they are the ones who decide the amount] and take away his pay until it catches up, only to continue paying him the same amount. plus my mom just lost her job of 11 years, which really hurt too. and then because of the way the economy is going its hard to find a job.
Not to complain to you or anything, just to let you know that not everyone is a stupid jerk buying waaay to expensive for them. In fact the lender tried to get my parents to take out a loan for more than they could afford, fortunately my parents arent stupid and said no.

But I agree, we shouldnt be helping people who were just stupid.

THIS is the biggest problem, I think. The GREED of bankers and brokers who exploited would-be homeowners who trusted them to finance their homes. I know there is no excuse for blind ignorance, but I think a lot of well-meaning people got suckered by banks who expected to grow fat on adjustable-rate mortgages.

and I'm sure more than a few people heard, "Oh don't worry, you'll make enough to cover your mortgage by the time that increase happens!"

Those greedy bastards deserve to lose their business and their savings!!
