The soul and daemons

In ancient times, people thought that the soul was made up of the same 'stuff' that angels and daemons were made of. The soul was not immaterial like we see it now - the soul was something very physical. You could project your soul out of your body to curse other people (the idea of the 'evil eye'). When you dreamed about going somewhere, it was literally your soul taking flight.
