I go Crazy for Adam

This was a rambling response I was going to put on TWoP, but then when I saw some kid actually post musical progressions, I looked at my fan rant and was like "Ummm.. no". But I gotta post it somewhere so here you go!

Okay, I love Adam more than a fan on medium, but the message songs? HAVE GOT TO STOP! From "Crawl Through the Fire" to "Pop Goes the Camera" it's like, WE GET IT. I don't know, I don't have a soft spot for those type of songs, but it seems to be the bulk of his original stuff. Instead of telling a story it's like a cautionary tale that has never happened to him.

Or maybe it has? I still can't get a handle on Adam. He's... not guarded, but there's a hidden past there that we may not get to see until after Idol. He seems stand up, but there's a distance that exists between "I'm pretty much an open book, I don't have that many secrets about me" and actually being that person.

It just makes him all the more intriguing to me! If you look at the very end of one of his performances when he switches from "performer" to Adam. It's so small and subtle, but totally amazing to me. Like he needs the crowd to see his transformation, like it was all planned. There's another where he cusses at the beginning, but then maybe he thinks he did the wrong thing so he sort of backs off? It's so strange and yet so beautiful. An online buddy commented that he sees this in a lot of performers, but in the land of amateurs that is American Idol is this something we should be seeing?
