yeahhh couldn't be bothered biting it again. how about i make a new one? yes i think so too.
also i like it light :( all you printmaking people like things dark.
aaaaand YAY LETTERPRESS! of course i was supervised. i can't even get the room open if there was no one in there? crashed one of jesse's classes last week. i want my own letterpress and letters... lingsiiiii let's buy one and start a letterpress heaven
yeah that's true, i like super deeply etched lines. sometimes i forget that my plate's been in the acid for like, 25 minutes but those ones always seemed to turn out better.. haha. your crane image is totally cool though, it's very delicate and pretty. do you reckon you'll end up doing heatpressed images?
I wasn't very impressed with the letterpress (excuse the pun). maybe coz Jesse's inkpads were crapola. or maybe it's because i've seen better effects from etching, lino etc.
oh i didn't even use inkpads, i used the wood letters and a roller. didn't know you used inkpads - i assume that's for the teeny tiny steel letters? it's not the 'effect' i'm after - it's the letters themselves. see this is what graphic design does to a person. i used to think typography was the boringest thing ever...
and hey i've already seen the archibald. it was ok but on the whole i was a bit unimpressed (no pun).
oh yeah i forgot about those rollers.. so we did end up using them but in our first lesson, Jesse brought these crappy inkpads that were mostly dried out. i really like what you did in your icon though, it looks awesome!!
last year was my first year seeing the archibald and i was all like OMG WOW but i guess it would be harder to impress me in following years.. just like the Art Express.. i just think the curating for that sucks now but maybe it's because I've lost that wow factor.
no, i've been to the archibald at least 3 other times before and each time has NEVER failed to deliver the hugest WOW factor. I've always thought it was worth its massive popularity, always exciting, always different. This year was still good though (i dont wanna turn you off going), but it wasn't like previous years where i stood and stared for aaaaaaaaages at at least a quarter of the content.
and yeah, what's with art express? are we just getting old and cynical and too used to curators doing really predictable things?
hey what days are you free next week? we should do a gallery day. at least 5 galleries - small random ones, in paddington. collect ideas, swoon, etc?
the curators SUCK at artexpress. i'm sure that the standards of student works are still phenomenal every year but the stuff they show at NSW Art Gallery is yawn.
i'm free tomorrow? or Thursday and Friday morning-midday-ish but i won't know until i figure out my roster tonight.
thanks for the photooooos, they are totally awesome! I gave my batch on a cd to Pammo so bug her about it.
omg is that letterpress i see in your icon???
were you unsupervised, young lady??
