Like Feeding the Pigeons, but like Aggressive Pigeons Who Attack

On the day we headed out to climb, J had to make a "powder room" stop, so we ended up at this monkey temple pictured above. At the front of the complex was a sign that read "No Whiskey." I asked if the monkeys didn't particularly enjoy whisky, but I guess it was a temple thing. Is vodka acceptable at temples? Coming to Asia, monkeys have held particular exotic interest to me, as they are sooo funnily humanlike (I know I'm anthropomorphizing, so sue me). But, the more I see em, the more they seem like rats, pigeons, gulls - just lazily reliant on human scraps. At this temple, the tourists come feed the monkeys with bananas and peanuts, and these guys totally get aggressive, tugging and scratching at your clothes till you drop your loot. I took a pass at the chance myself this time.
