So, jim thompson is the caption head for Great Lakes Percussion (GLP). Tim mocny cmu's ga referred me to jim to try out for WGI GLP. Also Justin, told me glp needed people. So at the last minute i downloaded there exercises and started working on them. I had about a week to work through them. Then jim sent me some music for there show, which i had 3 days to work on. Then jim tried to contact tim's mom because jim thought his daughter and son (tims brother and sister) were still playing in the ensemble. I tried calling tim's mom the day before auditions, the day of. She never gotten back to me. I was pretty disappointed because i wanted to try out. I wasted time practicing when i could have studied. Anyway, it was coming around 5 and i was looking for a ride. My boy Raab offered me a ride down there, but i still needed to find a ride back. Then, lauren let me borrow her car. She is awesome. I owe them big time. So, friday at 530 i scramble out the door to drive to grand rapids for audition. It takes me 3 hours to get there. I get there at 8 and they are all ready warming up. I sat down and was like holy shit, these guys are intense. I didn't think that i could play there warm-up even. Then, the instructor told me what they were doing, and it was easy. At rehearsal, i played snare all night, we worked on about 2 exercises for about 2 hours. Then, we started the intro to the show. It is awesome playing tons of notes super fast and clean with about 10 snares. They had about 4 guys watching each section of the line. then sat. morning i played snare and started working through axel f, one of their show tunes. They wanted me to try out for bass instead of snare. They told me they had 2 spots open for snare. When I got there they said they are marching 7. Out of the extra people trying out for that one spot. The instructors told me I could play better then them which was cool, but i got cut from snare. They said the 7th spot they were going to give to a guy that came to the first two camps and marched with the Cadets (best drumline in DCI for the past 3 years). Of course, they would give it to him. then, i got cut from bass, it was a kid name robbie vs. me trying out for that spot. Robbie was a previous GLP member so obviously he got the spot. Then instructors kept pulling me aside, saying you have great chops blah blah blah, we have to keep you in this line somewhere, try out for cymbals, so i did. I made the cymbal line!!! but,... I turned it down. I dont want to play cymbals, i only want to do corp for one season, and it has to be on snare. They never knocked my playing though, i told them this was my first season playing traditional grip, they said they could see that in my playing, if i didnt saying anything they probably would never know. They told me if i went to the first camps i may of made the snare line. There was maybe 2 guys that i possibly could have taken there spots. So, leaving out a bunch of details, and cutting a story short. I think they told me they had spots open on snare just to have me try out for cymbals. My hands hurt.

Then, i drove back home and stopped at alma on the way. I figured i am not going to be the lower person and give lauren a call. Plus i havent seen her in a while. I met up with her at a party she was at. I looked like shit, unshaven, sweaty, unshowered. But, she introduced me to her friends. She looked good as always. I dont know there is something about her that i am so attracted too. Then i left after visiting for 20 minutes cuz i was tired. Then, driving down the street almost approaching the highway raab called and i was talking to him about auditions, i pass by a cop in a drive way. Then, i look in my rear view mirror and i see flashing lights, and the cop was following me. I was like shit, i am getting pulled over and this is not even my car. So, i pull into a driveway, and the cop just kept on going! So i was like fuck yea. Got in about 1 then went to bed.
