I don't have pictures yet but I should get them sometime this week.
We had 9 guests. Most of which stayed at
<3 of Chicago. Single people stayed here and couples got rooms.
New Years Eve-Eve we hung out at home. I ordered 6 vegan pizzas. Some of the crowd headed to the hotel after dinner while some Chicago people came over. We piled into a full size van (I was the sober driver FYI). The group headed down to
Lost & Found. Once there, it took about 10 minutes in the icy rain before anyone noticed us ringing the buzzer and tapping on the door. Then we were spot checked. And finally, ID's in hand we were allowed entry. We all thought maybe there was going to be a Q&A to continue. Perhaps something of "Name the 5th song on Melissa Etheridges 2nd album" or "What was Tracy Chapman's 1st girlfriends middle name?" But they let us go.
We stayed for about 3 hours. During this time we made friends with a regular named "Little John." A pint sized old school butch dyke. She brought out bags of goodies for us to munch on and gave us an invite to the New Years Eve party. Another regular (name un-remembered) winked at us and informed the group that if we came to the party we could each get laid at least twice... then held up some plastic lei's.
We were the source of a great deal of curiosity since when we finally got into the bar it was announced that NONE of the group of 13 had an Illinois ID.
After leaving the lesbo bar Rovenko and I HAD to check out the
leather daddy motel where everyone was staying. It didn't live up to our imagination. The sign out front is black and blue stripes with a big red heart... just like the queer leather flag but the rooms are puke colored and there aren't penis shaped soaps or toilets crafted to look like men bent over. We thought there would at least be a jucuzzi tub in the shape of big man-balls- but alas, we were wrong.
The remainder of the night involved drinking games and everyone was in bed before 4am.
@ 10am on 12/31 part of the group was up and ready for breakfast. Skipping the Free Continental Breakfast of pineapple/orange juice, coffee and donuts, some of the group headed across the street to Egan's Tavern for screwdrivers.
Part of the group went via CTA to Boy's Town for shopping. We all met up @
The Chicago Diner for soyshakes and awesome guilt-free food. Rovenko and I then went to Whole Paycheck grocery store to get fixin's for the pre-party. I made vegan spicy chicken roll ups and champagne punch. More Chicago people came over and the out of towners came over. Rovenko wore a hot dress and I dressed to match (not in velvet). 9&Blonde gifted me with a thick black belt & giant D belt buckle. It made the outfit, I think.
@ 10:30 we headed to the same party we went to last year. There were less people there this year. I suspect all of the warm rain kept people in this year.
Moments into the party a drunken girl with big sunglasses stumbled up and said "I waited on you in the Diner today!" Not long after this everyone was discussing where they worked. It looked like a service industry party. Too bad Rovenko and I work in construction retail. No one knows us except for--from the bar.
Nothing dramatic happened at the party but it was a good time. We left around 2. Part of the group wanted to head down to
Carol's Pub. After watching the rest of the group be swept away on the CTA towards home and another 2 buses head their way and nothing headed towards Carol's, we got on the next bus home too.
Everyone was inside White Castle. So the Carol's group ran in there. I ran back out unable to bear the stench. The drunkest member of the party... we'll call her 'Dallas'... stumbled to the corner of ridge and clark where she bagan to projectile vomit into the intersection. It turns out that she drank almost a half gallon of Jim Beam. She, of course, puked all night.
I got up early the next day to get more toilet paper and a gallon of gatorade and a can of chix soup for her.
We layed around and watched movies and Netflix of 6 feet under. Then the people from Philly came over and cooked a big vegan dinner of pot pie salad and ice cream. Then they went to Stargaze. Rovenko and I went to bed to be up for work the next day.
