Citrus Heights police also reported a fatal stabbing Tuesday night at home near Almaden Way, Riesling Circle and Rubion Circle at about 6:22 p.m. Officers found bystanders giving CPR to a male victim. When paramedics arrived they determined that the man was dead.
Police arrested Jeffren Van Avery, 45, at the scene on suspicion of murder. On Wednesday morning, the Coroner's office identified the victim as Robert Wayne Davis, 43. Both men list Fair Oaks addresses but their homes are actually in Citrus Heights.
A dispute between the two men started at a nearby home but ended at the crime scene about a quarter-mile away. A police investigator described them as "acquaintances."
