No, that will take too long. Let me sum up.
Hi! I've been on vacation for a little more than a week. Or staycation, more like! My husband had total knee replacement surgery on the 22nd. It's his second knee replacement--the first one was a long time ago. He held out on replacing the second for too long, IMO, but now the gruesome deed is done. He can get all around the house and yard now, using a walker. I'm hoping by the time I need to get back to the office, he can be left alone without being a horrid fall risk or anything. I have local people we can ask to be on call for him.
My little office is stuffed with furniture, baskets, stereo speakers, etc. we had to move out of the common areas so my husband can get around. It looks like a hoarder's nest in here! Ugh!
So, I've signed up for a
Dramione fest I've never heard of before, called “Where Gods Dwell.” They posted a long list of couples from myths and legends in all different cultures, and you pick whether you want fluffy or dark. As we all remember, I love to beta all sorts of darkfic, but can't write them for shizzit. Fluffy is the way to go here. I nearly picked Shiva and Kali, but couldn't commit to the humorous notion of having Hermione (nearly) kill Draco by sitting on him. I mean, it's doable, but getting the reader all the way down that path sounded exhausting.
In the end I selected a fluffy version of Adam and Lilith. I might not have picked this myth if I hadn't watched "Good Omens" this month. Did everyone love it? I enjoyed it, but to tell the truth, I thought it dragged in places. It suffered from what we at my house call Stephen King Syndrome. Adaptations of beloved authors sometimes leave in All The Exposition to appease the readers, even if it bogs down the episodes. BUT that makes for more episodes, doesn't it? Which in turn makes more money for the production, and everybody's satisfied, so who the hell am I to say anything? :)
Anyway, Adam and Lilith sounds like a mythic pairing with all sorts of groovy plot possibilities concerning revenge, apples, forbidden sex, and perhaps an angelic Mafia. And now I'm making it Livejournal Official by posting about it!
