Hello from Central California, where Nature is still trying to rid itself of all life forms in the region by baking us. The temps have been over 100 degrees, on and off, for a month. I've been reading about England, where temps are also abnormally high. When you look at a map of European cities transposed onto the North American continent, you realize London is at the same latitude as southern Canada. No wonder they're suffering. That's no place for 90+ degree heat! Stay hydrated, everybody.
I'm excited to report that some of my HGSS drabbles have recently been translated into German! A nice lady struck up a conversation with me last month, got my okay, and has now put up two little stories on ffn: Jäger der Zauberstabkerne [Wand-Core Hunter] and A Wish to Protect. Here are the originals on The Petulant Poetess: 99 Bottles and A Wish to Protect. The first story is one of a series I posted on grangersnape100, where Snape and Granger are partners who travel the world, looking for magical ingredients to help old Ollivander replenish his wand shop. (I don't think Ollivander pays them that well, to be honest, but after all, there are secondary benefits to spending time together.) In the other story, Snape and Granger are partnered again, but as Aurors who are harrassing an honest dealer named Mundungus Fletcher. Now that I think about it, I tend to write HGSS as colleagues most of the time. Hmm! Anyway, the translator has done a great job, and I'm getting a kick out of improving my language skills reading my own stories.
