Well, today I got up early - I awoke from a dream; no scratch that - a nightmare. It was still dark in the room but I was able to recognize where I was. The dream was about something that never happened - jon and I broke our engagement and I had to stay at Kate O’s place. Which kind of makes sense, because I was not sleeping in my own bed…
Anyway, I got up, showered, got dressed, and went up stairs for breakfast. I thought it was a self serve kind of deal, however, I was instructed to sit down, and they served me. Breakfast consisted of a Crossant, toast, fruit from a can, tea, and ham & swiss as well as a piece of cake. Not bad, if I say so my self.!
From there, I checked out of the hotel and made my journey to the subway. I decided that in order to see more of the city, I wouldn’t get on the subway right outside of the hotel, but rather walk a couple blocks. I ended up walking along a beautiful forrest/garden/church - I think.. I”ll have to go back and look at the book. Anyway, from there, I went and purchased a couple of subway tickets and made my way to the station that had busses to other parts of the country as well.. About an hour and 40 minutes after I arrived, the girls arrived. We then purchased tickets and hopped onto a buss headed to valpraiso. From there we got onto a city bus and then walked up hill for quite a while. Casa Aventura was a no go. They were all full up. They made a recommendation that we try another hotel, and here we are!
We all freshened up a bit then made our way out to explore the city. Our first stop was lunch - we were hungry. There was a bed and breakfast that had a pre-fixe menu, so we stopped in. There was a table in the restraunt that had about 10-12 business people there who all seemed very quiet and to enjoy their meal. I had a salad with ham and avocado as well as a plate of fettuccini with alfredo and ham sauce. Not too bad. For dessert, everyone had icecream. VERY GOOD..
Next was on to the exploration. We ended up splitting up and while Stephanie and Stacey plugged into the internet, Catherine sarah and I all went for a journey across town. We ended up taking two eleveators (one up, the other down) and saw the big cathedral in the city.
Finally we met back up with Stacey & Stephanie, planned our next day, and went out in search of food. We stopped at the color café and then on to a restraunt called consecption (I think). The restraunt was a hoot. Our waiter was humorous and thankfully spoke English. We were pretty loud in there, but we were able to meet up with some other mid-westerners - two professors at Indiana University.
By the time the meal was done, we had had dinner, Piso sours, dessert, etc… all in all a good day - now I am exhausted.
