[The Dreamberry turns on just as Vanessa falls back into a large armchair near a fireplace, slamming it with a loud thunk onto a side table as she settles in. She's only halfway in the view of the camera at that angle; it's mostly pointed towards the fire and a vase of yellow carnations. For those who understand Victorian flower language, it's ( Read more... )

ihu dreamberry, i'm allowed to be a brat, where's hans when you need him?, this is vincent's fault, screw this, more silly flower language, why does everything suck, violence solves everything tbh, not-so-deep thoughts

Do calm down, sister. Shall I bring you a cup of tea?

[He's being nice. Well, not really. He's trying to piss her off. But it looks like being nice.]

[Again, it takes her a second before she can respond without instantly snapping at him.]

Yes...yes, a cup of tea would be nice, Vincent.

Oh, well, I can bring one to you right away, then.

[He doesn't seem concerned at all, smiling into the Dreamberry that way.]

Just a few moments.

Fine.

[She'll just be sitting here in the parlor, legs crossed, shoes still haphazardly flung across the room. Staaaaring at the door.]

[He actually does bring her tea. Fairly promptly in fact. He arrives at the door with a tray - there are even little cookies, though they're store-bought - and knocks firmly.]

Can I come in, little sister?

[If she weren't angry enough at him, calling her that should do it. But he's amused, anyway. Pissing people off and confusing them by being nice is a fun game.]

You may.

[She's still lounging over the length of the couch, but even in this casual position with her socked feet hanging halfway off the sofa, she still gives off an air of command over the room. She doesn't say anything else as she waits for him to serve her.]

[It's ridiculous, but it's fun. So he laughs easily, moves to serve his sister her tea.

He holds out the cup with a smile on his lips, gentle and sweet, too sweet.]

Here you go, my lady.

[She sits up, waits for him to lean in close and then, with one hand, appears ready to take the teacup from him.

But in an instant she's sitting up with feet braced on the couch, both hands flying up and grabbing his wrist, shoving his arms upwards to try and get him to 1 - splash the hot tea in his face, and 2 - hit himself in the face with the cup if he doesn't stop it in time.

She cries out in anger as she does so, but doesn't say a word to him.]

[He cries out as the tea hits him, of course. Even Vincent Nightray can't help but react to such a thing, and it was quite hot. But as soon as the initial response is out, he's taking a step back, and at very least he manages not to be hit by the cup.

It falls to the floor, his arm hitting it on the way down, and he stands there staring at her, spine very straight.]

So much for a peace offering.

[That tightness in his voice is a combination of pain from the burn and pure seething rage.]

[She stands then, hands on her hips as she glares at him as though she's sure she can set him on fire just by willing it to happen.]

Is it true?! You were courting that woman the entire time that mother was mourning my brothers?!

Was I supposed to mourn them from the bottom of my heart?

[His tone is low, dangerous.]

I behaved appropriately in front of our - your - mother.

You were supposed to show respect!

[Her feet are killing her, but she still stomps against the ground to exaggerate her words.]

How could you taint our house so badly?!

What is it you think I did, dear sister?

[He's back to smiling now, despite the burn on his face, despite the tightness of his voice caused by the pain.]

I spoke to a young woman who was in her own situation, who didn't have anyone to listen to her, to hear her side of any story, to care about her feelings. That's all.

--A girl! It could have been any girl! Someone more respectable that would have rejected your advances and blamed it on your grief!

[Which she knows must be a lie, but it's a small one compared to the lies that some other nobles tell.]

You have no idea what you are talking about!

[He's so frustrated with her now he could slap her, but he won't. He's better than her, or at least determined to be in this case.]

What advances? Do you think I would go out of my way for someone that I knew would cause so much trouble just for sex?

You and nearly every other nobleman.

[Yep, that's exactly what she thinks. She's seen Ada's cleavage, okay.]
