Life on the tour was super exciting. If you played on the tour, you were on drugs most of the time or you slept. It wasn't if half the bus hated you. Then out of the last quarter of the bus that didn't hate you consisted of one who just broke up with you, one you were in love with and one was always disappearing.

The outlook didn't look that good.

Brendon and Frank tried to ignore each other the best they could. It was still a little awkward on both sides. They've accepted that it wasn't going to work but they haven't made it back to being friends.

Jon was gone. Again. Brendon didn't know where he went but he was just always gone. Then he would just come back. Like, when Frank and Brendon ended, Jon was there to make him muffins and lots of tea.

Spencer was busy being married and doing married things, like trying to keep Frank and Mikey from killing Ryan. Which that was a full time job. And Ryan just seemed to always be there and Brendon didn't know how to react to that.

So he decided to go visit Joe. As he was leaving the bus, he ran into Pete. They did the normal greetings.

Brendon didn't really want to stay and chat with him because he seemed kind of bummed. Even though things weren't working out, Brendon still cared for Frank. It wasn't like he didn't give a shit about his feelings or anything. He did. Perhaps too much, but it seemed like it wasn't enough.

Brendon kind of knew where he was coming from, but that didn't mean it didn't still hurt. It still really hurt. He couldn't even explain it right. It just hurt even though they both knew they would be happier if it ended.

Pete was still talking animatedly, but Brendon kind of blocked him out. He tuned back in when he was explaining how he wanted to hang out with Ryan.

Which that was cool. Because with all of their friends disappearing or busy dealing with psycho killers (Mikey) or even being depressed, he needed someone to hang out with.

Pete had this secret smile on his face, but Brendon didn't think anything of it. Brendon didn't understand a lot of things about Pete.

Brendon left Pete at their bus and just started to walk around. Trying to kill some time before he went to talk to Joe. He found that if he was bummed and he hung out with Joe, he got more bummed out. It wasn't Joe; it was just his talk of the plan and whatever.

The plan no longer existed.

Brendon was sad as fuck.

He looked up at the sky. It was turning a bluish gray and there was no doubt that it was going to rain soon. He had a feeling their show was going to be cancelled. It was an outdoor show. They haven't done many of those. But the way Patrick and Joe explained to him, when Fall out Boy had an outdoor show most of the time it down poured.

They had some bad luck, he would say.

He eventually decided to head over to the FOB bus. He was hoping that Patrick bought him more Capri-sun's and Joe let him watch some movies. That was their cheering-Brendon-up method of doing things.

He walked in, but there was not a sign of Patrick or Andy. It was just Joe and he was pacing back and forth. For a minute he reminded Brendon a little of a dad whose wife was busy in the delivery room, and all they were doing was pacing and chain smoking.

Brendon cautiously walked in and Joe looked up at him. Joe rushed forward, and Brendon met him halfway.

"Hey, what's up?"

Joe shook his head, and his eyes looked a little preoccupied. Not like he was stoned, but like he was straight and just had a lot going on in his mind. "We have a big situation on our hands. Like a giant problem. Big."

Brendon really wanted to make a 'your mom' joke, but that would end up weird. Big like your mom? Either way it was insulting. One side of it was just morally wrong.

Brendon walked in further, and opened the refrigerator. He scowled when he realized they didn't have any Capri-sun but he was happy with a coke.

He sat on the couch, and opened the coke. "What seems to be the problem?"

Joe sat down next to him, stretching his legs out in front of him. It made him seem three feet taller than he really was. Or Brendon was short. Either one.

"Pete and Mikey broke up."

Brendon nodded and took a swig of his coke. "And? I don't see the problem with this scenario."

Joe sighed and avoided Brendon's gaze. That made Brendon instantly worried. Usually when someone couldn't look someone in the eyes that was a problem.

Joe looked up at the ceiling. "Mikey and Pete broke up because Pete wants in Ryan's pants."

The breath left out of Brendon's body, because what? Pete wants Ryan? But he knows about Brendon's sad, selfish crush on him. "But he knows. He knows about me and Ryan!" Brendon cried out desperately.

He was trying to keep calm. Even though he knew, and Joe knew that if given the chance, Ryan would have Pete. It was like a dream come true. He would go for it.

And Brendon didn't even want to think about it.

Joe stood up and started pacing again. He looked Brendon straight in the eyes. "I don't know. Fuck. I don't get his logic," Joe laughed. "I never get his logic, but today was supposed to be good. Everything was supposed to work out today."

Brendon just stared after Joe and some days he could talk like a normal guy. Seriously. "Now nothing's going to work."

Brendon sighed. "Joe, can you talk like a normal person for once?"

Brendon felt a little rude, but there was a Pete and Ryan situation going on and he just wanted Joe to talk normally for once.

Joe groaned. "Alright. Pete wants to fuck Ryan and he's going to. He thinks he's fair game because you're with Frank. Or were, for any matter."

Brendon stood up too. No, no nonono. This wasn't happening. "He's not. He's my game. He's not fair game."

Joe didn't say anything, just started pacing around the bus some more when something dawned on Brendon.

Pete just went to the bus to hang out with Ryan.

Brendon's eyes doubled in size and he headed towards the door. "Where are you going?" Joe asked.

Brendon just shook his head. There was no time to think, just to act. "Pete just went to hang out with Ryan. I have to stop them."

Joe ushered him out of the bus. "Go, and just. Tell Ross everything."

Brendon dug his heels into the ground. "What? Everything?"

Joe sighed and rolled his eyes. "There is no time to waste, Brendon. Tell him everything and all will work out, okay?"

His tone had the hidden message of trust me, and Brendon couldn't help but trust Joe. He nodded and ran over to the bus.

He ran, and almost ran into Mikey's back. He stopped just in the nick of time. Mikey, Gerard, and Frank were standing in a circle, and from the sounds of it they were trying to break up Spencer and Bob.

"So, what's your first plan of action, Mikes? How are we gonna break Spencer and Bob up?" Gerard asked, and that was when Brendon had a good idea.

Brendon didn't stay and chat, or hear what they were going to do to Bob and Spencer, because there was Ryan in a bus alone with Pete.

He ran to the bus, and bolted to the door and stopped dead. He took the extra steps, but didn't go inside. He just stood at the screen door.

Pete and Ryan were sitting on the couch. Pretty innocent. Except where Pete had his tongue in Ryan's mouth. Brendon just stood there, and logic was making its way through his fog of jealousy.

He knew that this happened in movies all the time. The villain kissed the hero (ine) and the hero always gets the wrong idea because he walks away too soon. The hero almost always leaves right before the hero (ine) ends the kiss, and probably slaps the villain. That stupid hero wasn't going to be Brendon.

No sir.

But, as Brendon watched, he didn't see Ryan pulling back. Ryan wasn't pulling back, just pulled Pete to him. And fuck the movies because Ryan was going to back out of this.

He wasn't because this was everything he's wanted since he was sixteen, probably younger. And Brendon couldn't believe this was his life.

He was living on a bus where people hated him, his friends weren't there and the one person more important than anybody else was locking lips with someone else.

Brendon rolled his bracelet off of his wrist and dropped it on the steps. He couldn't handle this. This was the part of the movie where the hero leaves everything behind, and that's exactly what Brendon was going to do.

He didn't need any clothes, or anything. He had his wallet, his ID, and two condoms in his wallet. He had enough to take him through to another town. A town without a Ryan. A town where no one knew his name.

He walked away from the bus, and right there, like a sign from above, Gabe's moped was right there.

He didn't really think it was grand theft auto, mostly because Gabe would never press charges. And he just needed something to take him to a bus stop, and God knows where the closest one was.

He sat on the seat, revved the engine a few times, and it started to rain. Fucking perfect. Brendon's life was an awesome one. He pulled his hood on and sped out of the parking lot.

He wished goodbye to everyone silently in his head. He was leaving it all behind and starting a new life.

Peeling out of the parking lot, Brendon didn't even realize he was the idiot hero. As he was too busy focusing on running away he missed Ryan pushing Pete off of him because it wasn't right.

Brendon just headed to the bus station, completely unaware of anything going on behind him. Planning on never having to deal with any of them ever again.

He was headed down the street and he really wished he had a hobo bag or something. If he knew that it was going to rain he wouldn't have gone empty handed.

They weren't that far away from a bus stop, which was kind of surprising. He got off the moped and put it next to the bench. He signed a note that says "Belongs to Gabe Saporta" just in case they happened to come across it, Gabe would know it wasn't stolen.

Sitting in the rain, Brendon sat on the bench and just let his misery have him as he waited for the bus.
