[Hi, Lucy, have a friendly looking face on your screen. He's here to answer all your questions! Well. As best as he can, anyway.]

Well, whoever told you that's kinda right. This is Somarium, and you're probably really far from home. Somarium's on another planet. Hypnosia, or something.

[siiiiiigh. As for how they got here...]

Nobody's got straight answers for how, but I've heard that some tech they've got malfunctioned and dragged us all here while we were unconscious or asleep or something like that.

Another planet? This is ridiculous.

So what you're saying is that we've all been pretty much abducted. Isn't that peachy... ( she's irritated, but only because this means her work is on hold and she really can't have that )

Pretty much. It gets crazier when you find out about the monsters outside the walls, too.

[And a nod.] Yeah. People can leave, but not by choice. They just disappear with no warning.

Define "monsters."

( she raises her brows, intrigued ) Disappear? They just ... vanish into thin air randomly?

Sharks that are about twenty feet long and swim through the sand like it's water. And they roar, too.

[Said with a complete straight face. He's not kidding. Those things are cranky as all hells.]

Right. Just like that. One second they're there, the next they're gone. Blink and you'll miss 'em kinda thing.

Sandsharks. ( blank face on that one )

That doesn't make any sense. Why bring us here at all?

Uh-huh. [sheepish look is sheepish.] I know it sounds crazy, but they're out there. Tried to make a meal out of us a while back.

[shrug.] Dunno. This place runs on what they called Dream Energy, and apparently we make it for them, so I guess we're just a power source or something.

You almost got eaten... By a shark. ( she's trying so hard to brain this ) In the desert. ( fingers pinch the bridge of her nose ) That's just-

A power source that they just toss away randomly? That seems inconvenient.

Crazy, I know. But this place has a sea monster in the lake and a floating mountain that got hit by a giant statue. Is a sandshark really that weird?

Well, considering how many people pop in and out of here like crazy, I'm pretty sure they're never running out of batteries.

Considering I wasn't made aware of the other two things you just mentioned - sorta, yes.

I guess that's true enough. Still, makes one wonder why the grab and go so often.

Good point. The sea monster's pretty nice, though. She likes fish. [Sheepish little smile. She does have a point, really. It does sound pretty crazy.]

Maybe we run out of the power they need? I mean, would you keep an empty battery in a flashlight you needed fully charged if you had a fresh set right there?

You realize that you're just making this place sound all the more crazy, right? ( she does, however, offer a sympathetic smile. at least he's trying and she's actually rather thankful for the information ) You often make friends with sea monsters?

Doesn't make much sense - people have told me they've been here for years whereas some people have been here for much shorter lengths of time and vanished. Shouldn't the older residents' "battery power" run out before the new residents do?

Yeah, that's....kinda what I do. [Stiiiilll sheepish. He really does make things crazier than they should be. It's a habit.] Nah, not often. Nessie's the first one I've ever met.

Maybe the older one have more power left to give out? I dunno....haven't really thought about it.

Nessie. You named her?

Seems a lot of people haven't thought things out much about this place.

Nope. She had that name before any of us got here; think the locals named her.

[shrug] Yeah, well, when you've got storms that dumb twenty feet of water on us in two days and people falling asleep for two weeks, thinking's kinda not a priority.

Interesting that they'd pick that name of all names to choose.

Wait, what?
