I would like to announce that, after nearly one full month of employment, the Associated Press has sent me my first check.
You may hold your applause until later.
A few things that need to be brought to the attention of the general public:
1) Dave, you still owe me an entry entirely about me, preferably about how awesome I am.
2) I may or may not be living at 1119 Garnett next year. I didn't plan this, but it's two houses down from Joy. Make of that what you will.
3) I've been feeling old lately, or at least older. But Joe! you'll say. You're only twenty! True, but Ken Griffey Jr. is thirty-five. He's supposed to twenty-four years old and hitting 45 home runs. Instead, he's thirty-five and injury-ridden. I guess, for some reason, that makes me feel old. Also, I envy the freshmen this year, because they're reminding me of how much my freshman year rocked after I got settled. This isn't something that's crippling...just a wee bit sad.
4) But then again, I'm only twenty, and I could stop whining so much.
5) Pitchers and catchers report in five days. The Red Sox equipment truck left today from Boston. Soon, this almost-spring black hole of sports will end. I miss the daily routine of screaming joyously or angrily at a television, while people I've never met play a children's game a thousand miles away from me. I miss caring so much about it.
I wonder if Johnny's cut his hair.
