I was on my way to MFL show late this afternoon, and there was a rabbit in the road. Apparently hit, still living; its back legs were messed up and it was open. So I and my father take an interest. Then one of my father's co-worker/friends, driving by, stops and gets out to take an interest. Then there was that person on the sidewalk who took an interest. And that lady from the house right near the scene. They all took an interest. I called animal control people. I was told I could leave this situation in the hands of those present. So I went to MFL.
This night, we are going back down to hackett (b/c father said it was still there when he was returning home earlier) to see if it is still in the road. Nope. 'Tis gone. But the box we were going to move it in is there on the fairway beside the oncoming portion of the road. I look, and sure enough, the dead rabbit is there.
This bothered me. I do not care that the rabbit died, or whether or not animal control folks arrived or not. It bothered me that other people took an interest and then left it lying in a cardboard box on the side of the road. If that was to be their choice, I currently feel they should have left it to begin with. ... ... I was advised to wait until the morrow and call them animal ctrl people again, or remove the body myself.
