Six Apart lost ad revenue, claims Warriors For Innocence

Jul 19, 2007 21:57

The journal suspensions that occurred yesterday and 6A's announcement today may have been spurred by the neo-Nazi scumbag hate group Warriors For Innocence.

After LiveJournal restored some of the journals suspended on Memorial Day, Warriors For Innocence continued to hound Six Apart; that I knew.

What I did not know is [note the information comes from WfI, so disconnect your "if it is in print, it must be true" reflex]:

We [WfI] contacted numerous LJ advertisers to inform them that their ads appeared very inappropriate web pages in close proximity to such subjects as Kiddie Porn, Family Sex, F***ing children, Child Rape, Child Molesting, Child Pornography, and other disturbing topics.

The advertisers were leaving LJ in order to protect their company’s reputations.

Google Adsense and Google Adwords were the providers of advertising for LiveJournal. I say ‘were’ because Google no longer provides advertising for LJ because Google was losing customer’s confidence in their ability to offer safe and reasonable advertising venues. WfI, July 10, 2007

I don't know if it is true that LJ lost Google advertising revenue. I want someone to find out. Now. Please.

If it is true, we can count on Six Apart bending over repeatedly for every hate mongering group that comes along, no matter what any poor LJ employee says in the public pillory known as lj_biz.

Note: there is ample evidence that at least 300 of the 500 journals suspended by Six Apart on Memorial Day came from a hit list provided by Warriors For Innocence. Here is one of many posts that document it. At least one of the journals suspended yesterday was on WfI's May hit list.
