Dear Wetherspoons,

Dec 17, 2006 20:22

When I went to get served, I got id'd, this is a relatively frequent occurence even though I am 26, however, I do not drive, and I do not find it acceptable or convenient to carry a 5" long passport on my person. The part I am upset about is that an expired postgraduate student card with my picture on it, a credit card, plus the testimony of a 42 year old friend who I worked with four years ago was not enough to convince the barstaff of my age. Surely the fact that I am older than most students is enough to prove I am over 18? Or the fact that I have a valid credit card with my name on it (provable from the student card) would make sense to somebody. I am hurt and upset since I recommended that we go there since it is the only non-smoking pub I know of in the area. We moved on to another wetherspoons where I did not have the same problem (though I did not like the smoky atmosphere). Surely a student card is enough? I have no intention of passing my driving test any time soon (and proving you have a car nearby is like saying "yes, I intend to drink-drive, can I have a beer"). Surely students are some of your best customers? Isn't there a bigger problem here?

Can you sort this out? I miss my pint of Abbot and burger with bbq sauce, bacon and cheese, extra burger.
