Being Walter's roommate turned out to be a huge mistake. Huge.
When I moved in he told me I didn't have to pay the utilities so I could worry about getting back on my feet. Then the next month he complained about me not paying the bills and accused me of being just like Ron, his previous roommate. I told him that the he told me not to pay them and then he said he was changing his mind, but it was the first time he was telling me. And I didn't have any money for them at that point.
We argued a lot.
He complained about my toothbrush being too old so I bought a new one. Then he used it "by mistake" not even a week later. I had to get myself another new one and keep it in my room to be safe. He asked if he could borrow books and I made the case that they are all boxed up and that I don't like to loan them out, but on two separate occasions I found that he had taken books from boxes.
He was drunk seven days a week. Most of the time he would get home from work and leave again to go drink. He smoked in the apartment (pot and cigarettes) after he said he wouldn't. He accused me of never cleaning the apartment, especially the bathroom, but the mess in the bathroom was always his. He would leave stuff all over the sink counter and the floor.
He was always telling me how I should live my life and how I should do things. It was never alright for me to just do what I wanted to do.
Finally one day he got into an argument with me and I started looking for places online. Then I talked to David and I was going to move into the spare room in the place he splits with his friend Chris, but they backed out at the last minute. Now I'm sleeping on Dad's couch until I can find my own place.
I'm just glad to have Walter out of my life finally. I even left him a note with the keys telling him to lose my phone number because I'm done. I hope it works and I never hear from him again.
