God is up to something.
Christian and Emily Soulierre moved here all the way from Kansas City (well, Christian moved back because he grew up here) because God was calling them to the Coachella valley youth/scene. All we had started when they arrived was concerts every weekend we desperately scramble to secure a venue for each time....and lots of heart and vision to see something bigger happen. Not only a venue...something we all love to do...but a community where counter culture youth can experience Christ (aka Bible study, Church, etc). So we prayed and looked at ideas.
I never doubted God but I doubted man....mainly the main stream Church's reaction to secular concerts, kids with tattoos and general going against the grain in a Christian community (however theologically traditional we actually are).
Yet it looks like God already gave this vision to a 55 year old pastor in the valley, who asked a 38 year old pastor in the church...who admitted that he knows nothing of our culture so would seek out those among us who could lead it. One of our Blackhart production team-mates...Christopher Cross goes to the church and he got us together with the guy for lunch today. It sounds like they not only are cool with the idea and want to support it spiritually and in word...but in deed.....to the tune of all the finances we need because they have the money. And as we talked to the guy I can't explain it...but I was just on the same page with him....wasn't expecting it cuz he looked pretty traditional, etc.
So as we all agreed at the conclusion of lunch today, if it is God- it will happen. We will pray and plan and work hard...and hopefully in 3-6 months we will have an alternative church/community- where we will also have our shows- started in Cathedral City for young people (highschool- 30 yr olds).
