demerol is given *instead* of epidurals, i think. one of my friends had that stuff and she said she was hallucinating. when i was having nathan i was almost too late for the epidural. i asked if i could wait and then get some drugs if i had too hard a time when i had to push, and she said that at that point the only thing they could give me would be narcotics like demerol or stadol, and those would effect the baby. she said the epi was the safer alternative. im sure there are many people who will find fault with what that dr said, and i havent spent hours on the internet researching it

Yikes on Nathan getting stuck! I was trying to tell Steve the same thing that you said, about being able to focus without being inhibited by the pain, but he just doesn't see it the way that I do. I thought the stuff about latching was kind of weak too. Thanks for the support!
he was 9 pounds 6 ounces. it was his shoulder that got stuck on the way out. his head was out but they couldnt get the rest of him out. i guess its called "shoulder dystocia" or something like that.
