That's what Michael Fuentes said to me after graduation, and it really hit home. It's no longer "have a nice summer" or "see you next year." It's "have a nice life, because I may never see you again." Sad.
Anyway.
I like to think that things only happen if you let them, or if they're supposed to, which is kind of contradictory, seeing as if you try to stop something from happening, it may anyway because it's supposed to. I guess I mean that there is some sort of plan, but there is need for involvement. Some people also say I think to much, but sometimes there is need for self-reflection. My point is that it is a time of great transition, but if I really did want to keep in touch and see people I could. It's just a time to move on. Some things we need to leave behind for the good of change.
Brilliant. A perfect beginning to my first entry of the summer after high school graduation. I must say it's a nice reward from all the past four years of work. Time to relax, to spend time with people I enjoy spending time with, partying with fellow graduates, and ... relaxing. And swimming. Dude, I need to swim soon. My family hasn't gone to our pool yet because it keeps raining. Just waiting for the right weather. In the meantime, I'll just keep going to Summer Band on the weekdays and work at Baron's on the weekend-ish's. Baron's is starting to suck. Working there I mean. New people are kind of annoying, and my manager is just getting to be a prick. But I get paid so ... and I usually try to chill at Erika's afterwords so that relaxes me from the crap that goes on there.
I went to the Doherty's wedding last Saturday as a member of the six-piece brass band they had at the ceremony. The Van Wyk's and their college friends mad up the rest of the ensemble. Jerome and Laryssa make a nice couple and they (along with the everyone there) were crying most of the ceremony. Jerome wrote and arranged the brass music and it was the first time Laryssa heard it. Great stuff. He said we might record it next fall, since no one taped it. All the people in the band we're really cool and helpful; Brian, the tuba player, Ryan, the Euph, and Joel, trumpet. Friggen good stuff. And the reception was fun. They got a really good band called "Line Drive" that played kinda old R&B and rock, but I heard they're really expensive and can play pretty much anything, some by ear or by memory. All in all, good stuff.
Oh, yeah. I saw Dave Matthews Band two weeks ago, but I can't explain my experience in words.
Erika and I went to the Fireworks last night in Rahway Park. We sat in the middle of the track next to a bunch of drunk/high/crazy kids. But they were really good and relaxing to watch. We also saw Superman and Nacho Libre, which were both actually really good but incomparable.
And I updated. Whoa. I must have time.
So, yeah, good summer so far. Hit up my phonez if you wanna chill, there are still some people I need to get in touch with. Just because I haven't seen them in forever.
Hope everyone's summer is going great.
