I just got back from Williamsburg, VA yesterday. It was too awesome.
A Brief Summary
Last Saturday my family and I departed on a long and traffic-ridden drive to Williamsburg, Virginia, via a short stop at my great-grandmother's nursing home in Alexandria, just outside of Washington, DC. During the drive we appropriately viewed "1776" (a comedic musical about the founding of our nation), while sitting in hour-long traffic on the turnpike, and other congested road areas. Anyway, we finally got there that evening and unpacked into our suite (you couldn't actually call it a suite, 'cause it's actually larger than a regular one ... so lets call it a "surrogate house"). So this surrogate house had a ... Big. Screen. TV. Too awesome. Our TVs at home are only like, 27". I don't even know why I'm being this detailed ...
So, some places we went ...
President's Park: A small-ish park that accomodates giant busts of all 42 presidents, from George Washington to George W. Bush. Kinda boring.
Jamestowne Island: An island near Williamsburg where the first settlers from England arrived. Slightly boring, but a pretty atmosphere.
Norfolk Naval Base: We took a boat / ferry tour around the base. We got to see some nuclear subs and some of the world's biggest battleships and aircraft carriers.
Busch Gardens: Best. Amusement Park. Ever. They even had pirates. Real. Pirates. Oh, excuse me ... Busch Gardens Pirate Smackdown. Well, not really it was this Pirate show these two guys acted out on the grounds. But it was sooo awesome.
Colonial Williamsburg: Even though we had been there two years ago, we went back this time because the Air Force "Heritage of America" band was giving a free concert. Friggen. Amazing. So amazing that I have to write in sentence fragments. They actually played stuff the high school band played before. Like that Olympic fanfare. Flawlessly.
Ok, I'm not gonna dwell on this. If you're really interested call me or talk to me ... sometime ... other than ... this entire week which is band camp. But if you're in band, or you call me when I'm not there ... i guess i can tell you. I don't know.
I'm tired.
Booger.

PS. I just heard Ben went to Virginia, too. Maybe I saw him ... and didn't know it ... or something.
