Wow.
I forgot how beautiful this city is (Firenze). But sitting here watching american cartoons in Italian with my nephew is an interesting twist. Seeing the American companies and their marketing practices pervading Italian life is a little more than I'd like to see. *sigh*
Meanwhile, times are tough in Italy. So come visit! Just leave that American crap at the door.
Word of caution: Large load of laundry in the dryer for 20 minutes at the laundromat (same spelling) was 3 Euro. (almost $4.00). Gas is $5.59 a gallon....twice what we pay in California.
And I had a fantastic dinner last night at Cafe Etrusca up in Fiesole for 100 Euro. That's 3 adults, 1 child, 3 courses, a bottle of wine, dessert, aperitivi, the works. And the wine was sublime. I asked the waiter to write down the name for me and he grinned at me...."silly American, it's *table wine* for cryin' out loud..."
Yeah. Dopey tourist. I love this place.
