Hello, once again its taken forever for me to update. I just got back from a 3 day music festival, I saw over 20 concerts and I am exhausted. I will type up as much of the Greece trip as I can before I have to go to class.
Vatican city was huge. It was somewhat full, you could still get in line to see the last pope's grave. Unfortunately half of us were wearing shorts so we couldn't get in and see anything. We still got to walk around outside and look at all the statues. We left the Vatican and headed towards a large park in the northern part of the city. We walked along a river and it was very beautiful, there were alot of shady trees and ornate buildings. The park was also very large and contained alot of statues. It was busy with people riding bikes and kids driving little pedal cars you could rent. We were tired from walking so we relaxed on a bridge and watched a group of roller bladers doing tricks with rows of cones. They were very friendly and did tricks for us that we videotaped. It was getting very hot so we found an icecream stand and left the park. There was an ancient aquaduct that lined the southern end of the park that we had to walk under to leave. Looking back towards the park from the street we could see clouds of pollen falling from the trees, it was really strange. We were now in a very nice area of Rome. The streets were pretty wide and had alot of outdoor cafes. We headed south towards the coliseum. On the way we walked through alot of ancient ruins. They were all roped off but you could see them very well from the street. The tomb of the unknown soldier is one building that is especially interesting. It was getting dark so we went to a restaraunt that came with a discount from our hostel. The food was very good. We also stopped at a grocery store to get food for the train ride the next day. We were tired from walking around all day, and we needed to get up early the next morning so we went to bed. The next morning we hopped on a train to Bari. We boarded a ferry that would take us on the 9 hour trip to corfu greece. There was a big Harley gathering so the ferry was full of bikers. It was pretty nice inside, there was a restaraunt, a small casino, and alot of places to sit. Ironically they had Titanic playing on all of the TVs. We arrived in Corfu the next morning.
