And here's a story about my day, courtesy mostly of copy and pasting a conversation with DarkMoogle.
The reason I'm lower on time tonight than I'd like...
I put my keys next to my change for the laundry, and then go to do laundry. I realize I don't have my change. Which means I don't have my keys. So no cell phone, neighbors aren't home, leasing office and maintenance office are closed. I'm stuck outside my apartment, with no way to get in touch with anyone who might be able to help, and Nina isn't planning to come over tonight.
So, barefoot and wearing a t-shirt with sweat shorts, I start to hike almost two miles to the hospital. That's the only place I can figure that might have a public phone, and no place would let me in with no shoes anyway, you know? So I walk up, find out the hospital has no outside phone. And I still figure they won't let me in without shoes, so I sort of shrug and walk away trying to think of another way to get in to the apartment.
And by this point my feet hurt like hell from walking on hot pavement anyway, so I'm limping a little. Then the hospital SECURITY pulls up. I had neglected to think of how it would look to be some random shoeless guy limping around. So they apparently think I'm a hospital escapee, and the report they got was inaccurate, as it said there was a guy wandering around with no PANTS.
So I was like "uhh, I have shorts on"
So they gave me a ride and had a chuckle about it, let me enter the hospital with no shoes, let me make a phone call, and gave me a pair of hospital socks for the way home. Overall very nice of them, but it was incredibly embarassing to be the alleged NO PANTS ESCAPEE for a few minutes.
And my feet still hurt from walking about 3 to 4 miles, mostly on pavement and sidewalk...
