Today Stephen and I walked our little (or iin my case, not so little) patooties off doing a self-guied walking tour of Modernist architecture in Sydney. Although we were both agreed that it is out least favourite style, we nevertheless enjoyed the walking and the unseasonably cool weather.

The tour is part of the Powerhouse museum's Modern Times exhibition and examines the influence of modernism on building designs from about 1910 - 1968. There are some truly hideous apartment blocks but one gets a sense of modernism being about functionality, layering and smoothing/curving edges. There are a number of buildings which feature towers.

But among the winding lanes and backpacker's accomodation were some interesting finds.

A fine day walking, having coffee and aesthetic appreciation. We also saw the World's Best Wildlife photography exhibition at the Australian Museum. The stunning grandeur of this exhibition was marred by a nasty combination of fatigue and hordes of be-backpacked tourists dragging children in their wake. We self-prescribed more coffee and a Belium white chocolate caramel slice to endure the ordeal.
