2009 Resolutions

Read a decent amount of books in 2009. Primarily because I worked through several reprints of the Doc Savage and Shadow pulps by Lester Dent and Walter B. Gibson. Sanctum Productions publishes the novels once a month, collecting two (and sometimes three), reproducing original art and original covers. Occasionally, the editors restore cut material. I'm about a third to a fifth through the currently published books, and I'll probably record as many books read this coming year as I continue with these new reads and re-reads.

I knocked out a lot more DVDs and movies this year. Some credit is partly due to Hulu, which let me catch shows such as Arrested Development and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, as well as older movies like Sergio Leone's Man With No Name trilogy, starring Clint Eastwood, and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, which was written and directed by Billy Wilder.

My favorites among the books were The Shadow's Justice by Walter B. Gibson and Duma Key by Stephen King, which both finished with a great climax, along with The Patriot Witch by C.C. Finlay.

I'm already well into King's latest, Under The Dome, and nearly finished reading A Spell for the Revolution, Finlay's sequel to the first book. I'm a slow reader of late these years, and the list of books I own that I plan to read/re-read is so long I won't embarrass myself to show you the list I made in Word (because it is embarrassingly long). Some of its length is due to the inclusion of series, such as The Destroyer, Doc Savage, The Shadow, The Wheel of Time, Repairman Jack, et cetera, et cetera. Good thing I like all these books. :-)

Winners among the movies and DVDs are Arrested Development, Mad Men, and Dead Like Me. I'll probably knock out of some older television series again this year. First up, however, is last year's season of 24, which we picked up for Christmas.
