2nd time around....

two things that I love (but are ultimately meaningless) came back: Futurama and Star Trek.

Futurama's long-awaited feature-length dvd release was this past tuesday, and I have to give the makers credit: this was a film for the futurama fans.  Loads of in-jokes and references to earlier episodes, but not so much as to dictate the plot (i.e. lots of background set-pieces drawn from earlier episodes).  I've waited since futurama was cancelled back in 2003 for this, and despite my VERY high hopes (a pre-condition which often results in disapointment), it lived up to every one of them.  I hope that over the course of the next year, when the three more films are released, that fox or some other network gets pressured to order more episodes/films.....so go out and buy it....I'm depending you....to get me more futurama!  That's the definition of selfless, right?

Also, a new star trek movie is being made, despite box-office slums found by Nemesis, and disapointing returns on Star Trek: Enterprise (which is still a great series as far as I'm concerned).  Take a look at the cast they've hired: I'm quite happy with who they chose (ESPECIALLY Scotty and Christopher Pike).  I really think this could be a great star trek flick, altough the director, J.J. Abrams has little film directing experience.  Still, I'm stoked.

Also, I'm going after a professor for gross professional misconduct.  more on that in the future.
