UPDATE:
Upon sensible council, and in light of potential legal issues, I've edited this entry, as well as some previous ones.
The
expanded article was published, and has caused quite a stir in very little time.
It seems I've struck a nerve. I've noticed that every point brought up by my detractors has been addresed in advance in the original article...presumably because the people bitching at me didn't read it carefully enough.
In addition to supposedly not understanding post-modern political studies, I've been accused of mirroring George W. Bush anti-intellectualism. Only at Trent would I be labled a neo-conservative. One of the things I mention in my piece is how the "posties" utilize ad hominem attacks that sidestep the issue, and me detractors use them quite readily, proving my point for me.
In my 3.5 years at Trent thus far, I've heard people play the race card and the gender card like they were playing some self-indulgent game of lazy-academic blackjack, with the end game of trying to beat the house (i.e.: end the discussion), and I'm sick of playing it nice with these lowlifes who don't hesitate to hurls barbs at me even when they're not being attacked. I've got my cards too, and I'm going to start using them. These childish ego-maniancs with no regard for the freedoms and liberties they claim to represent have to be exposed for the elitist, hypocritical, power-mongering, status-quo advocates that they are.
