Meanwhile, across the pond..

I like playing around with google maps.  I sometimes take a few minutes to manually look for world monuments (such as the Statue of Liberty, CN Tower, and the Great Pyramids), or just for curiosity's sake, I'll look up directions to and fro.  Today after work, I was curious how far the trip from here to Vancouver would be, and I laughed very loudly.  For the starting location, I typed in Peterborough. I had forgotten that there exists a Peterborough city in the UK, and Google thought I meant that.  According to Google Maps, the trips is a hair over 7,000 miles, and takes over 31 days to make the trip.  Odd, I thought.   Then it occured to me that Google Maps might not automatically assume that people would fly over the atlantic, or take a ship.  Instead, direction #31 states: "Swim across the Atlantic Ocean....3,462 mi".

I liked that.
