Hello everyone,
I'm not writing with a purpose, for the moment, I just didn't want you to feel neglected. I've been sick for the last week or so and haven't been responding to e-mails or anything, but I'm feeling better now so I'm going to slowly start work on catching up.
I got my health insurance finally this week, too, along with the cold. So next week I'll probably go and replace my lost glasses, hopefully it won't be too much, I need to start saving sometime afterall, though sending $500 home a month is going to be easy no matter what. And the longer I'm here the fewer expenses I'll have and more efficient things like my grocery shopping will become.
I think my friend Tim and I are going to try to organize some of our coworkers to start fixing dinner together. This is nice because it's hard to cook just for yourself, plus only one of our coworkers has a microwave so heating up leftovers for the rest of us is a pain.
I went to my first dance club in Korea last night. It was pretty lame, but I guess that's why I never really go to dance clubs. It's just not my thing. I like to dance, and don't mind dancing to music I don't particularly like, but it was pricey, just to get in, and I just wasn't feeling it.
Oooo... I just remembered Shawn is going to be in Japan when I finish my contract. That's going to be sweet, sweet, sweet.
I feel like I need to be organizing my huge, sprawling post Korea trip already, but damn is it a long way off. It's just going to take a lot of organizing, however, but my ten country goal (which will, by then only be 8 since I'm already in Korea and I'll have been to Japan I imagine and if not will go there and visit Shawn without much effort) is very workable. I need to do research to figure out where it'll be safe to travel, though, and that stuff's bound to change in a year. Right now I'm thinking Korea > boat to Japan > boat to China > train to Vietnam > train through Laos to Thailand > (train to Cambodia and maybe Singapore if political climate allows it)> boat to India > fly to Amsterdam > Eurorail to Germany > Eurorail to the Czech Republic > Eurorail to France > Chunnel it to the UK where I'll try to set up shop in Scotland working somewhere under the table for a month or so, while taking a trip or two to Ireland. I wonder how much all that will cost. I'll probably be able to have the savings to do it, though and it'd be a hell of a "mission complete" for this whole travel the world goal. There's a pretty decent travel agent who's helped some people I've met get good deals that works across the street from me and speaks good English so I'll probably try to plan stuff out with her starting around May, maybe I should talk to her before then though, especially since I'm pretty open about the whole thing and I might be able to do more cheaper but following what's cheap instead of doing it in the order I'm thinking of currently. The big question is, who's going to plan on meeting up with me during that September/ October/ November trek? Tom said he's interested in meeting me in Amsterdam if he can swing it. That'd be such a blast. My Trevor will come meet me somewhere, he likes to travel. I wonder if he'd like to come here sometime. I hope you all realize that you're welcome to come over and visit me here and you could stay here, though you'd have to sleep on the floor. I wish Lindsay could come, I miss her. I hope Kate gets to come in the summer. She likes the summer.
