101 better ways to have less Caan on the show...
Okay, maybe we can't come up with 101, but...
Every other episode thread, we kvetch about Lack of Danny, and sometimes we blame Scotty for not being available and sometimes we blame TPTB for under-utilizing him, etc. My thought is this - assuming it was a forgone conclusion that Caan would not be available for all of the filming, how SHOULD the writers/producers have handled his absence? We know a show can deal with a season or more of a popular actor/character getting way less screen time, and make it an interesting subplot instead of constant "uh, yeah, he's... um, somewhere else today...". Buffy did it with Giles, Stargate did it with, ironically, Danny, etc.
So, if you were in charge of the universe Hawaii Five-0, what would you come up with as a long running subplot to accommodate less time from Scott as an actor, while giving the fans more of what they want from Danny as a major character? Starting from last season or this one, no plot too AU.
