Black Eyed Peas just broke the record for most weeks at #1.
20 Weeks at #1: "Boom Boom Pow" (12 weeks) and "I Gotta Feeling" (8 weeks so far).
I'm totally shocked. I'm not a BEP fan, but even I'll admit their earlier stuff was way better than these tracks.
I don't think the songs are good, but I can see enough appeal in them to go high up the chart. High yes, but I can't believe that in the last 20 weeks there wasn't ANY song better enough to unseat them.
Meanwhile Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" breaks the record for weeks on the chart: 70 weeks in the Hot 100. Weird thing is that song is totally forgettable ... I had to look it up to remind me what it was. I think I've heard it in a TV commercial, but I can't put my finger on it. How can such a forgettable song be on the chart so long?!
