Grrreat...

Pretty much just got back from Cambridge and my PGCE interview. It went... to be honest, it just went. I've had far worse interviews and I've had far better. They discerned that I had exactly as much experience with teaching kids as I stated on my application (that is, negligible), which was less than they wanted. Apparently they thought I was being honest. Funny how I'm meant to have had experience teaching kids for an interview for the degree which will allow me to legally teach kids. These PGCEists, so crazy!

By some curious coincidence, I bumped into Lee Pretlove, the Masters classicist from Exeter in the year above (the one in the same class as, but not as fit as, Ben the Bouncer). He'd apparently gone over the exercise we were meant to suggest a teaching plan for in a class he'd supervised a while back, which made him apparently more relieved.

In other news, [adopted] uncle Simon's got back from Devon, where [adopted] grandpa Frank's been in hospital. Apparently Frank's had a heart attack, and perhaps a stroke; while it was only his body that used to let his down, especially his legs, he's now lost his short term memory, he's not eating and barely even touching his booze (a dire, dire, dire indication for someone in our family!). Parent warned me that she's convinced he's going to die soon, and for once I'm inclined to believe her. Admittedly she said this three years ago. But there again, Frank's now 89 - he surely needs a break from all this. I just worry for Simon. For him to lose the father whom he idolises, well... he's going to go to pieces.

As a bonus, at least Boss Carl arranged it so I don't have to be in work tomorrow until 2.30pm. I can get a bit of a lie in! Woo.
