So
sirius_moonshdw and I went to work today at Ossum Amazing IT Company, Ltd. No, really. That's their name. ¬_¬
It was induction training, so it wasn't mentally taxing. Lucky, since we had a two-hour commute via the bus. Grargh. We met the other two people in our newbie group: a pleasant young lady called Suzanne (I think it has a zed) and a guy called Tom (who is cute).
We started by being shown around the different departments and stuff. The Marketing Department (called Sarah) made us promote an apple as a new service, it was fun. I also got to use words like personal sense of parsimony when dealing with the ISO standards guy. The Sales Department guy annoyed Siri a little and the guy who talked us through what Finance do had ossum horizontal spikey hair mohicanlets.
So far no-one's told us much about our actual work. And when we said "we're going to be working on "Service Desk", everyone went "Oh. Good luck."
Eeep. Why do we need to be wished luck?
Nevertheless, other facilities included a duck pond, a pension scheme, H as our line manager, an Xbox in the break room, and free coffee, tea and toast.
Yes. They give us free toast-making facilities. This ossum company has the foresight to buy bread and butter so we all feel happy. I tell you, if these are just little insights that this company offers, then it's going to be good fun working here.
Also, Siri-bum and
silvertomcat (who met us outside our old workplace) managed to make two consecutive cyclists very unnerved by talking about the bumgay. I would have been proud had it not been me to whom they referred.
