Beware The Noob...

Lastnight, I played cards at a Firehouse with five other people. I havent played poker/black jack in like ten years. Luckily for me we weren't playing that game, It was going to be Texas Hold'em. A game I never played. YAY.

I was given a quick demo of the game and the rules and I was good to go.

First match into the game, I win a large a pot when four players folded, the one remaining threw in a big ante' , I called his bluff and won the pot. Whoo Hoo... Gambling is fun.

One hour into the match I had the biggest amount of chips in the game, when I did something my gut was saying no no no. One of the remaining players went all in (which accounted for 2/3 of my chips). Logically, I knew he wasn't much of a bluff-er, So, I knew he had a good hand, however, I too had a good hand. And an All in move was a sure way to knix me in the game. So I went against every fiber in my being and matched him and played my hand, cause I was curious what cards he was holding. (If it was for high stakes I wouldn't do it, this is a friendly game).

According to three other players I lost the hand, though I did not know how, he had a suite that beat my hand, which wasn't explained to me... fine. So I took my meger winnings and started winning the next few rounds again, when the other two players start doing all In's to try and oust me again. Bastards...

So another huge ante' lay in the middle of the table again, and all three of us are in, we reveal our cards and each of us had a king as the high, secondary cards were a 3, 8, and a jack. I had the jack. I win again...apparently not, when someone says hearts are bigger than clubs... um... what the fuck. I accepted this house rule and was out as the other two players split the winnings and called it quits. But, the new guy made them shit there pants a few times.

Next time I play I hope I get the full set of house rules before playing.
